Program Details

Dates: January 8 through August 15, 2018


Candidates will be required to attend one full or partial week series of workshops and seminars in each of February, March and May-June. Candidates must be prepared to travel outside Canada and can expect to travel and conduct field study for up to two weeks during April and/or May. Independent study and online collaborative components of varying durations will be required in advance of the first workshop and throughout the program timeline.

Candidates will be expected to invest approximately 60 hours of independent online study, 170 hours of residential study, and 120 hours of field study, for a total program commitment of about 350 hours through the six months of the program.


Residential Workshop sessions will be conducted at the Briars Conference Centre in Sutton, ON (just north of Toronto).

Field study may occur anywhere in the world, and all program-specific travel costs and incidentals will be covered by the program.


$15,750 + HST ($17,797.50) per participant inclusive of materials and approved field travel expenses. Travel to and from workshop sessions is not included.

Class Size:

May be limited to a maximum of 20 participants.


Police service members at or above the rank of Inspector and individuals in equivalent military or civilian positions in Criminal Justice and/or Public Safety agencies.


The complete and final syllabus is being designed by the Program Delivery Team for approval by the CACP Board of Directors in November 2017.

The CACP Global program is designed to serve as a unique experiential learning medium for participants. Specific learning outcomes and components are mapped to the prevailing competency models currently in use in police leadership development in Canada. The learning sessions are designed to utilize and build upon prior learning outcomes from other existing executive development programs. Based on this model, it is expected that workshop and seminar topics will include:

  • Priorities and imperatives facing the Canadian Criminal Justice and Public Safety sectors
  • Operational adequacy guidelines and objective audit, assessment and performance measurement methods
  • Research, Interpretive Inquiry and Systems Inquiry methods and techniques
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis and benchmarking techniques
  • Organizational change and systems design methodologies
  • International crime prevention, law enforcement, public order, emergency response, victim assistance and justice administration and governance patterns and strategies
  • Social, demographic and cultural trends and indicators
  • Cultural, Socio-economic and Geo-political issues
